The Prescribed Information Order sets out the deposit protection information which must be provided to the tenant by the landlord or business within 30 days of the deposit being received. mydeposits Scotland helps its members by providing the prescribed information in the following ways:
- Proof of protection– in the form of a template or certificate when you have successfully protected your tenant’s deposit with us AND which you must sign.
- mydeposits Scotland information for tenants leaflet – which must be passed to the tenant together with the proof of protection. It explains how mydeposits Scotland works, getting the deposit back and our contact details.
The prescribed information says that you must provide information about how you can make deductions from the deposit and refer to the term in your tenancy agreement. One way of doing this is to simply cut and paste the deposit clause and put it in a separate document.
